Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (TU/e) June 26–29, 2012
In the last week of June in the European Year for Active Aging 2012 the next world conference of the ISG, International Society for Gerontechnology will take place in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. This year in cooperation with the ISARC, International Symposium of Automation and Robotics in Construction.
Under the theme “Who is afraid of aging?” all aspects of the aging society are included, such as quality of life (including leisure and pleasure), home care, life-long working, retrofitting existing buildings and infrastructures, and the associated new technologies, such as ICT, automation and robotics. We start from the rights and needs of the end-user of built environments. Special emphasis is on the world of the construction industry.
During the three conference days (Wednesday to Friday) there will be keynotes, leading edge technology events, symposia, chaired oral sessions in a fixed time frame, as well as exhibitions and virtual site visits at the GeronTechnoPlatform.

Related activities
Related activities include: (i) IAARC Academy for professionals in automation and robotics in construction (Monday & Tuesday), (ii) ISG Master Class for young scientists in gerontechnology (Monday & Tuesday), and (iii) SuperTu/esday (Tuesday).
SuperTU/esday, under the title "House of Robots", will have interactive events and a few lectures showing the activities of the Department of the Built Environments of Eindhoven University of Technology, especially in relation to other departments. Attandence is free.
Management & Interaction
ISG*ISARC2012 is managed with the Open Conference System of Simon Fraser University (Vancouver BC, Canada). This allows all interested parties to register for newsfeeds, to take a free reader account, and submit contributions and applications through the same web-based system.
Succesfull interaction is the main goal of any conference. In ISG*ISARC2012 this concerns interaction between engineers and social scientists, as well as the interaction with novel products and services by means of apps on the name tag you will receive, a specially prepared smart phone.

ISG, the International Society for Gerontechnology, is an international academic organization devoted to designing technology and environment for independent living and social participation of older persons in good health, comfort and safety. ISG is associated with the IAGG, the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics. ISG*ISARC2012 is the 8th World conference of the ISG.
IAARC is the premier global organization dedicated to the advancement of Automation and Robotics in Construction. IAARC represents fields of construction including civil and building engineering, machine automation, robotics applications to construction, information technologies, planning, logistics, etc.IAARC organizes a yearly International Symposium for Automation and Robotics in Construction (ISARC). ISG*ISARC2012 forms its 29th version.
Eindhoven University of Technology has chosen "Health" as one of their main focusses.
